Dear Interested *PhD student candidates* in Robotics, Haptics, HCI, AI for Human-Robot Interaction,

the SIRSLab group, of the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics of the University of Siena, led by Prof. Domenico Prattichizzo, is seeking candidates for PhD positions in the fields of wearable robotics, wearable haptics, human robot interaction mediated by wearable technologies in industry 4.0, assistive robotics, virtual reality and augmented reality, teleoperation and robotic manipulation, AI and robotic manipulation.

Perspective candidates must hold a degree in Control, Robotics, Automation, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related disciplines, be able to program in Matlab and C, and speak English and Italian proficiently. Knowledge of control theory, robotics, mechatronics, design, human-studies, human-machine interface and statistical signal processing is appreciated. Candidates who are expected to get their degree before the beginning of the PhD course in October will also be take into consideration.

*** A pre-selection process is expected to be carried out starting from mid February until the first week of March 2018 (the official call will be out very soon). *** As a result of the preselection an admission offer will be issued by the University of Siena, which the selected candidates can use to look for financial sponsorship, for instance, but not only, by applying for national mobility funds. Students who will get a financial sponsorship will eventually be admitted to the PhD program of the Information Engineering and Mathematics Department (, within the SIRSLab group under the guidance of Prof. Domenico Prattichizzo. The PhD program, lasting three years according to Italian legislation, is expected to start in October 1, 2018.
